Higher Standards Automotive to host car show Saturday

MIDLAND — Show cars of all types, spanning decades, will fill the parking lot of Higher Standards Automotive on Saturday.

The auto repair center and parts store will host its second-annual car show from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 2626 N. Eastman Road in Midland.

This year’s show will include dash plaques for the first 50 vehicles. Judges will also hand out awards for best in show and audience choice categories. Drivers can register either by calling Higher Standards Automotive at 989-495-0200 or in person at the event; registration cost is by donation.

In addition to classic and retro cars, the show will feature Gordo’s Kitchen food truck serving Mexican cuisine, a DJ providing family-friendly music and a 50/50 raffle. The proceeds of the raffle will go to help an individual who suffered a recent accident.

“I’d like to see the community to come out and see a bunch of cool cars and get to know Higher Standards Automotive,” said Brandon Guiles, marketing coordinator.

Higher Standards Automotive, which has operated in Midland since 2008, moved to its current location in 2020. The car shows, which are free and open to the public, are meant to be a fun event for people to share an appreciation of classic vehicles and learn more about the Midland automotive business.

“Higher Standards is hosting the show for the love of the community and the love of cars. They’re really passionate about it,” Guiles said.
